The Reading Room of the Stewart Bell Jr. Archives is reopen to researchers. For the safety of staff and researchers, and to protect our collections, we have had to make some changes to our procedures. Researchers will now need to make appointments to do research in the Archives. Currently, researchers are limited to a one hour research appointment per day. Research appointment times are as follows:  

Monday to Thursday: 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM, 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM, 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM, 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM

The library system's buildings are open with adjusted public hours following safety guidelines from the CDC, local health officials, and directives from Governor Ralph Northam.

Did you know that there are vast amounts of great music available to you through our Hoopla digital service? And even better, it’s all for free with a library card? When you download music, you get to listen to a whole album for seven days before it gets “returned”. Listed below are just some of the most popular albums in a few of the many categories. All over the world, Pride celebrations have been postponed or cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our own Winchester Pride has been postponed to October 24^th (details here). If you’re anything like me, you’re thinking, “Well, I’m glad we’re being safe, but it’s disappointing having to miss our traditional celebration.” But one of my favorite things about the LGBT community is our ability to make the best of bad situations. With that in mind, here’s a couple of ways you can celebrate Pride from home.

I sat down (virtually) with Donna and Katie to talk about the exciting youth summer reading for kids and teens.  We talked prizes, how to enroll, a few tools for parents and kids for fun and education during the summer, and more!

Handley Regional Library System and the Friends of the Handley Regional Library System is excited to partner with 1455 A Place for Writers on their next virtual author talk with Chris Register on his book Conversations with US.  The free program will run on June 27^th at 3PM on Handley Regional Library System’s Facebook page (@handleyregional). The heart of Conversations with US beats with the words of hundreds of everyday people offering their thoughts on what it means to be American.
