  • Talking - Talk to your child about their favorite candy or sweet. Tell them what your favorite treat was when you were a kid. Remind them that sugar and sweets are fun to eat, but you need to eat healthy food too and always brush your teeth!

  • Singing - Listen to or watch the song “I Love Sweets”- kids 5 and under will love watching the puppets and will be able to sing along with this song: I Love Sweets

  • Reading - Check out and read any book from this week’s search tag: #landofsugar
  • Writing - Make game cards to go along with life size “Candyland” (see below). Have kids draw colored squares on paper to match the colors on your life size gameboard. As pre-readers draw a square and color it in, they will be practicing their hand grip.   Life-Size CandyLand

  • Playing - Play a life size game of “Candyland!”
Grab some chalk and draw out the gameboard on your driveway or other flat surface.
Playing this game is a great way for pre-readers to practice color recognition and also get some outdoor time!

Don't forgot that you can now reserve books for curbside pickup. Check out details here on how to get your books.

Remember, if you watch a virtual program with a story included, it counts towards your logged reading and activity badges, so track those books! Virtual programs have their own activity badges too, so when you go online to watch, look for the corresponding badge and activity through Beanstack. The calendar will give you a hint for the badges to look for.

Each week we'll highlight an activity badge and activities, but keep in mind, you can work on these badges at any time during our summer reading challenge.

Have fun this week in the Land of Sugar and Sweets!
