Plan Your Trip to Handley Library
Handley Library does not have a designated parking lot. There is metered street parking around the library, as well as a couple of parking garages about a block away. You can either pay using quarters, or use the ParkMobile app!
ParkMobile is a convenient app designed to simplify the process of paying for and managing your parking meter time. To get started, simply download the app and set up an account. After adding your payment method and entering your car's make, model, and license plate number, you're ready to go. Each parking meter has a zone number that you'll input into the app to begin your parking session. Select how long you'd like to park, and you're set.
When the meter starts to run out, ParkMobile will send you a notification. Whether you're engrossed in a good book, immersed in research, or keeping an eye on the kids as they explore, you can easily add more time through the app without the need to dash outside to feed the meter.
Returning items is easy, with our book drops located around the back of the building. This ensures that you can easily drop off your borrowed materials without worrying about parking. Whether you're in a hurry or visiting outside of normal hours, these book drops provide a hassle-free solution to keep your reading habits uninterrupted.
Want to pick up your holds? Did you know you can schedule an appointment at Handley for us to bring out your holds for you? Curbside pickup uses the MyLibro app to make picking up holds a breeze! Simply place a hold on the items you want, and then use the app to schedule a convenient time for pickup. This service ensures a quick and contactless way to get your hands on the library materials you need. For more detailed instructions and to learn more about this convenient service, click here.
If you want to avoid parking altogether, try out the city's WinReady app! Ever wished the bus system worked more like Uber? With WinReady, it does! No more waiting for a bus, transferring routes, or long walks to bus stops. WinReady is a point-to-point service that will pick you up when you need to be picked up and take you where you need to go within the City of Winchester within 30 minutes. You can request or schedule a ride directly from your phone, and WinReady will get you there. For more information on hours and fares, click here.
Through a partnership with KultureCity®, the Handley Library branch has implemented a range of accommodations and resources to better support individuals with sensory sensitivities. This initiative reflects the library's dedication to raising awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by those with sensory processing needs.
Among the accommodations available are KultureCity® Sensory bags, which include noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, feeling thermometers, and special KCVIP badges. These resources are provided for in-house use and are accessible to patrons at no cost by leaving an ID at designated service desks within the library.
Prior to their visit, families and individuals can download the free KultureCity® App where one can view what sensory features are available and where they can access them including, how to get a KultureCity® Sensory Bag. Also, on the App is the Social Story which will provide a customized visual preview of what to expect when visiting. Access the social story here.
