One Library. Three Book Clubs. Find Your People 📚

Posted on:

If your reading life has been feeling a little… lonely, we have good news. The library’s book club family has officially grown! What started as one monthly gathering has turned into three distinct book clubs, each with its own vibe, focus, and community.

Whether you love contemporary fiction, personal growth, or American history, there’s now a seat at the table for you.

📖 Read with Friends: Adult Book Club

For readers who love stories, discussion, and discovering new authors

Our classic Adult Book Club is open to all adults (18+) and is all about connecting over great reads. We dive into contemporary fiction (with a mix of genres), talk about the current month’s book, and reveal the next month’s selection — so you’re never behind.

Meeting options:

  • Evenings: First Thursday of the month, 6–7 PM
  • Mornings: Third Thursday of the month, 11 AM–12 PM

Location: Barns of Rose Hill (next to Clarke County Library)

Haven’t finished the book? That’s okay. Come anyway. The conversations are lively, welcoming, and judgment-free.

🌱 Better Human Book Club

For readers who want to grow — inside and out

Looking for books that help you reflect, reset, and maybe stretch a little (literally)? The Better Human Book Club, a partnership between Handley Library and MoveMentation, focuses on reads that explore personal and communal growth.

Each meeting begins with light stretching and gentle movement before diving into thoughtful discussion. Meetings are facilitated by Adrian VanKeuren of MoveMentation and are free and open to the public.

When: First Wednesday of the month, 6:30–7:30 PM
Where: Benham Gallery Room, Handley Library

Come for the book. Stay for the conversation — and maybe a better version of yourself.

🇺🇸 America 250 Book Circle

For history lovers and curious minds

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, this special book circle brings readers together to explore the ideas, challenges, and people who shaped our nation’s founding.

Through shared reading and engaging discussion, we’ll take a deeper look at early American history and its lasting impact.

Upcoming selections:

  • February: 1776 by David McCullough
  • March: Revolutionary Mothers by Carol Berkin
  • April: Give Me Liberty: Virginia and the Forging of a Nation

When: Third Thursday of the month, 6–7:15 PM
Where: Benham Gallery Room, Handley Library

❤️ No matter what you read, you’re welcome here

All three book clubs are free, open to the public, and no registration is required. Whether you come every month or drop in when a title catches your eye, you’ll find friendly faces and great conversation.

Because reading is better when it’s shared — and now, there’s a book club just for you.
