SCOPE AND CONTENT:  This collection contains account books from a blacksmith shop operating in Ninevah, Warren County, Virginia. Five account books belonged to Gabriel Neville (1807[?]-1864) and cover the period 1847 to 1864. One belonged to Beam & Neville and is dated from 1865-1866. The last belonged to P. G. Neville and runs from 1866 to 1900.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Gabriel Neville was a blacksmith in Ninevah, Virginia, a small hamlet in Warren County just a few miles north of Front Royal. After his death, his two sons, both Civil War veterans, operated the shop until their deaths.
