SCOPE AND CONTENT: The Mutual Farmers Club of Frederick County, VA Records contains a variety of materials including the Club’s constitution, meeting minutes from the period 1871 to 1918, and minutes of the organizational meeting in 1871. The Records also include information about local farms and crops, and programs of Farmers Institute Meetings from 1900 and 1907.   

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: The Mutual Farmers Club was established in 1871 to provide education and assistance to its members of Frederick County’s farming community. The Records show that members received information on a variety of topics, such as sheep and poultry farming, butter making, and how to run a profitable orchard. There are also a series of manuscript letters from members asking for advice on various agricultural topics at meetings. Some of the local family names mentioned in these records are Lupton, Solenberger, Larrick, and Clevenger.
