SCOPE AND CONTENT: This Sarah Hester Harris Collection contains scrapbooks compiled by Harris of news clippings concerning the African American community in Winchester, Virginia and the surrounding area. 

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Sarah Hester Harris was a resident of Winchester, Virginia.  She taught first grade at the Douglas School in Winchester, VA from 1952 until its closing in 1966.
