BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: The George Washington Hotel, located on the southeast corner of Piccadilly and Cameron Streets, opened in Winchester, VA on June 17, 1925. For many years the five story, 102 room hotel was the social hub of the Lower Shenandoah Valley. By 1975, the hotel’s fortunes had declined and it was converted into an adult assisted living facility, which then closed in 1995. After two years of being vacant, the building became a hotel once more after an extensive renovation and reopened on April 30, 2008.
