SCOPE AND CONTENT: The Gertrude Over Bageant Collection contains three scrapbooks created by Gertrude Bageant during the period of World War II. The scrapbooks contain announcements of President Roosevelt’s death and the activities of men and women of Winchester and Frederick County area during World War II. 

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Gertrude Over Bageant was born in Frederick County, VA on January 10, 1897 to Mr. and Mrs. James Mason.  She lived and worked in Frederick County for her whole life. Bageant was a receptionist at the Winchester Memorial Hospital, a member of the Turner Ashby Chapter 54, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Market Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bageant died on September 11, 1983 and is buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
