Scope and Content: This collection contains information about the Billings family. Included is a Confederate States of America (CSA) pension application for E.S. Billings, Thomas Billings’ family group sheet covering 1481 to 1863, a biographical sketch of Edgar Josiah Hailey, and a few letters and photographs. Mrs. Lu Neal Hailey compiled this material in 1998.

Biographical/Historical: E.S. Billings was born in Mt. Jackson, VA in 1846. His family had moved to Virginia from Connecticut in 1844. He served in VA 11th Cavalry, Company I. His entire family moved to Texas in 1870. He married Sarah Harding Brown in Texas. E.S. Billings died on November 21, 1926 in Texas.
