SCOPE AND CONTENT: The Almanac Collection contains almanacs from various publishers in Virginia and other states. Some of the almanacs were locally published in Winchester, Va. 

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: An almanac (alternatively spelled ‘almanack’) is a yearly publication traditionally used to provide meteorological predictions, calendars, holidays and feast days, and often other miscellaneous information and amusement relevant to its audience.  Almanacs were often used by farmers to determine when to plant their crops.
