Our middle grade book spotlight this week is on books that have been made into movies!! Let’s be real for a second--there are a ton of books that have been made into movies and the majority of them are not nearly as good as the source material. The titles we are featuring this week are examples (at least in my opinion) of books that are better than the movie and I encourage you to read them and prove me otherwise! These books and more can be found by searching the catalog…
Our middle grade book spotlight this week is on books that feature games (video, virtual, board, and so on), mazes, and puzzles because it is International Gaming Week!!! I love games and puzzles because there are so many choices, you can complete them either with others or by yourself, and there is always a bit of challenge that makes the victory that much sweeter. The titles we have this week will inspire you to take on some sort of gaming this week or you can just feel free to…

There is an incredible mix of realistic, historical, and some adventure providing options for many…
Our teen book spotlight this week is on books that are all about adoption and foster families!! Let’s face it, love ‘em or hate ‘em, where would we be without our families? One of the things I love about YA is that there is such diversity throughout the collection and when it comes to books that feature families and family life, you might read a story that features a family that may be different from your own or maybe you will get to read about family that is just like the one you…
Our teen book spotlight this week is focused on books that feature Neurodiverse characters! Neurodiverse individuals are ones who see the world differently and have unique behavioral traits; their brains work in a way that is different from those who are neurotypical. The books this week all feature characters who fall under this group and they will open your eyes to see the world differently! All of the titles this week are realistic fiction, but they all have plot lines…
With it being Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th-October 15th), our middle grade book spotlight this week is on books that are authored by Latino and Latina authors!!! These books are amazing and so many of these authors have written more than just the titles that are being featured--so if you like this one there are others you can read as well. We have some stand alones and other titles are the beginning of a series. These books and more can be found by searching the…
Our teen book spotlight this week is focused on books that examine the events of September 11, 2001. As we approach the 20th anniversary of that fateful Tuesday, it is a date that should be remembered and examined as everything changed at home and abroad by the end of that day. Books are an amazing way of not only reflecting but also learning about that day and the events that took place as many of you may not be old enough to remember what happened and is just a mention or a blip…
