From time to time, the Handley Regional Library System creates special giving opportunities that allow our community to support the library in meaningful ways. These gifts help strengthen our services, collections, programs, and spaces—ensuring we continue to grow and serve everyone who walks through our doors.
Today, we are honored to introduce one of those opportunities:
The Donna Hughes Legacy Fund
After 36 extraordinary years of service, our beloved Youth Services Director, Donna Hughes, is retiring.
Donna has been far more than a librarian—she has been a cornerstone of our community. For decades, she has welcomed families through our doors, sparked a love of reading in generations of children, and helped make the library a place where people feel they belong.
Her impact is immeasurable. Thousands of children took their first steps into stories because of Donna. Countless families found connection, comfort, and joy through the programs she built and nurtured. She didn’t just serve the community—she helped shape it.
To honor her legacy, we’ve established the Donna Hughes Legacy Fund.
This fund will carry forward the work Donna cared so deeply about—supporting youth, strengthening families, and ensuring the library remains a vibrant, welcoming space for future generations.
