Donation of Lord Fairfax Land Grant to Stewart Bell Jr. Archives
Handley Regional Library System continues the popular Groundhog Day Celebration on February 2nd at 11AM on the library system’s Facebook and YouTube accounts @handleyregional. The program features “Tiva”, a real groundhog from Valley Wildlife Care, a local rescue and rehabilitation organization, and an interactive puppet show with “Bowman Bill”, a special guest groundhog puppet. Attendees will learn about the life and habitat of a groundhog, protecting wildlife, hibernation, and more. The library fun will continue with a special Kid Crafternoons program at 2PM o

Annual Gingerbread Jamboree Returns – Virtually!
The popular program loved by kids and families, The Gingerbread Jamboree – will return this year, but on the library system’s Facebook page. The Gingerbread Jamboree is an interactive program filled with a gingerbread read-aloud, puppet show, Grab-and-Go Kits for at-home fun, and more virtual experiences and surprises over Facebook Live.
Gran-and-Go Kits include a craft, science experiment with an interactive video program that accompanies it on Facebook Live, a story retelling activity, and more!
Ebooks and Audiobooks are moving from RBdigital to Libby Reading App
This means more titles and an improved selection on the popular Libby App!
The Friends of the Handley Regional Library System and Little Noon Music present a musical memorial tribute to performer Madeline MacNeil, who passed away in March 2020. Madeline performed for the library system for over 20 years.
The musical tribute is free and open to the public and will be online. MacNeil’s friend, Rich Follett, coordinated the recording of a tribute with area musicians performing their favorite MacNeil song.
As one year ends and we look forward to the next, we hope this letter finds you and your family well. Handley Regional Library System is proudly wrapping 2022 on a high note. Having overcome an extended period of global challenges, we are excited to be planning for the future. Our goal is to provide more programming, greater electronic resources, expanded outreach opportunities, and even more effective collaboration with our outstanding community partners.
Handley Regional Library System announces the Family Traditions Fall Reading Challenge running October 31-December 31. In this unique program, kids and teens can earn online badges, stickers, and other prizes based on number of books and minutes read as they share family traditions, learn about other cultures, and create new memories this holiday season. Digital Library Offerings Grow to Include Career Services and At-Home Learning Resources for Students and Adults During Pandemic
We have expanded the online services available in our 24-Hour Digital Library to the community. Additional digital materials include enhanced resources for job searching and career development, specialized career testing, GED and college test preparations, at-home learning tutorials and practice tests of core educational skills (in both English and Spanish) for students and adults, plus more.
