Handley Regional Library System Weekly Media Brief

Handley Regional Library System announces the following weekly updates and programs to the community:

Happening Now – The Winter Reading Challenge for Kids, Teens, and Families

Handley Regional Library System announces today the 2021 Winter Reading Challenge: Books Like Us for kids and teens in Clarke County, Frederick County, and Winchester City.  The library program runs through the month of January and participants can win online tickets based on the number of books read to redeem for a chance to win raffle prizes.  Library staff will also be conducting a series of programs online through their social media pages (@handleyregional) including interactive storytimes, teen video game nights, crafts, and more – all designed to connect literacy and entertainment.  Participants receive a small prize when registering. Sign-up, learn more, and log your reading at handleyregional.org/youthwinterreading.

From the Desk of John Huddy, Library System Director:  Thank You Letter to Library Staff and the Community

As this challenging drew to a close and the holidays arrive, this is an ideal time to express my sincerest gratitude for the staff of the Library, the Library Board, and our supportive and understanding patrons. This pandemic has dashed many of our plans and objectives temporarily, but it has not dampened our spirits and love of service to our community nor the love of the Library. We are now seeing what Winston Churchill describes as the “end of the beginning” of this difficult time. We will one day get back to the way it once was, which brings hope to us all.  It is time to present the Library staff with a huge round of applause and recognition.  Read the rest of the letter here.
