Important Announcement: Bowman Library Renovations

Bowman Library will be installing new carpeting from January 12–23. During this time, some services will be limited:

  • Printing will be limited
  • Only laptop computers will be available
  • Study rooms will be unavailable
  • Access to many adult materials will be limited
  • Faxing and scanning will be unavailable

These services will still be available at both Handley Library and Clarke County branches.

Research Appointments

For the safety of both staff and patrons, and for the protection of our collections, the Stewart Bell Jr. Archives has updated its policies and procedures for using the Reading Room. To view updated policies and procedures click here.

Beginning July 8, 2020, the Stewart Bell Jr. Archives Reading Room will be open to researchers by appointment only. Researchers should submit appointment requests by calling (540) 662-9041, ext. 17 or by filing out and submitting the form below.  Twenty four hours notice in advance of your appointment time is appreciated. Once your research request is received and reviewed, a staff member will contact you to arrange an appointment.
