BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Stephens City High School was one of five small high schools located in Frederick County. The other four schools were Middletown, Stonewall, Gore, and Gainesboro. The County established Stephens City High School in 1913. It closed in 1950 when the County consolidated its five smaller high schools and opened James Wood High School. Stephens City High School had 670 students when it closed.

Alumni of Stephens City High School formed an association in 1938 and held reunions annually until 1961. A reorganization of the alumni association took place in 1989 and it now holds reunions every two years.
