SCOPE AND CONTENT: The Donald R. Strosnider Collection contains ten small, framed silhouettes of the Conrad family of Winchester, VA.  Three are of Robert Y. Conrad and two are of Helen Conrad. There are individual silhouettes of Dr. Daniel Conrad, Rebecca Holmes Conrad, Mary Montgomery Wylie Mason, Bobbie Conrad, and David Holmes Conrad.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Frederick Conrad (1723-1793) was a tanner by trade and settled in Winchester after receiving two lots from Lord Fairfax. He later acquired a further 650 acres close to the town.  Conrad and his wife, Maria Clara Ley, had seven children. Members of the Conrad family have been prominent figures in the history of Winchester and the surrounding area.
