DATE: 1816-1818

SCOPE AND CONTENT: This collection contains an account book from Green Spring Mill in Frederick County, Va., covering July 1816 to June 1818. The mill operator made daily entries of his business.  

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: The Green Spring Mill was built about 1.5 miles west of White Hall in the year 1801.  In 1816, James Tanquary Jr. ran the mill.  The building was later (around 1940) sold to C.B. Dawson, who opened a store at the location.
