Scope and Content: This collection is made up of poems, essays, news clippings, and ponderings of Michael Fitzgerald, known locally as the “poet laureate of the Shenandoah Valley (Virginia, USA). Some of these works have been published.

Biographical/Historical: Michael Fitzgerald has published numerous books of poetry and nonfiction, children’s literature, and magazines articles. His poems have been published in major American poetry journals. He studied at Wesleyan University, Earlham College, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and has taught workshops and read his poems in Europe, Canada and the US. Fitzgerald has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, and won several awards. He is a member of the Academy of American Poets. He has worked on projects for the Folger Shakespeare Library, National Public Radio, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Federation for the Blind, Warner Brothers, the US Public Interest Research Group, and others. He lives and writes in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, USA.
