SCOPE AND CONTENT: This collection contains a bound notebook of articles entitled, “Things and Thoughts,” and a folder containing carbon copies of interviews with C. Vernon Eddy, director of Handley Library and resident of Winchester, VA, USA. It also contains interviews with Mr. Eddy concerning Judge John Handley and other miscellaneous papers.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Charles Vernon Eddy was born in 1877. He attended the Shenandoah Valley Academy and graduated in 1896. He was co-operator of Eddy Press. In 1913, Eddy became the first librarian of the Handley Library, serving until 1960. In the community, he served as secretary-treasurer of the Winchester Historical Society and was considered a distinguished Mason. In 1905, he married Katherine Graham Kurtz. He died in 1963 and was buried in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
