SCOPE AND CONTENT: The John Armel Papers collection contains letters written by Private John F. Armel of Company K, 107^th Pennsylvania Infantry, to his wife and family. The letters are written between December 1864 and June 1865, when Armel was serving at Petersburg, Virginia. The letters have been transcribed.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Private John F. Armel was drafted into Company K, 107^th Pennsylvania Infantry on September 21, 1864 and was discharged on June 7, 1865.
