Program Description

Event Details

A Science Café is a lively, informal public event in a casual setting that focuses on a topic of wide interest. We’ll begin with an illustrated talk, followed by Q&A, door prizes, and more! Participants are free to purchase food and drink and to engage with the presenter and other participants. Come join us—it’s FREE!

What You'll Learn:

Year after year we add more plastic to the environment, much of which finds its way into our oceans. Photos of dead, plastic-filled marine animals and square miles of plastic debris are commonplace. Dr. Havens will update us on this problem and share research into plastic alternatives.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Havens is Director of the Coastal Watersheds Program at the Va Institute of Marine Science, College of William and Mary.
