Program Description

Event Details

For 20 years, Carter Stanley helped lay the foundation of bluegrass music as one half of the Stanley Brothers Old-time Mountain Music Show. Carter’s passion was playing music and enjoying the musician’s way of life – the lights, the stage, the song, the applause, the adoration, the camaraderie, and the drink; the drink that stole the passion. Gone from the music scene for nearly 50 years, his legacy has largely been forgotten with the passage of time. Until now.

Join actor, musician, and writer Gary Reid as he becomes Carter Stanley in this dramatic theatrical production of Stanley’s life. A storyteller, 40-year bluegrass veteran, and the foremost authority on the Stanley Brothers, Gary affords today’s bluegrass and old-time music fans a chance to reminisce through his performance.
