Important Announcement: Bowman Library Renovations

Bowman Library will be installing new carpeting from January 12–23. During this time, some services will be limited:

  • Printing will be limited
  • Only laptop computers will be available
  • Study rooms will be unavailable
  • Access to many adult materials will be limited
  • Faxing and scanning will be unavailable

These services will still be available at both Handley Library and Clarke County branches.

Groundhog Day with Bowman Bill

Join us virtually from your special viewing place as we celebrate the coming of Spring with our resident puppet groundhog, Bowman Bill.

He has been predicting the weather for our area since 2002 and we are happy that he comes out to share his news with us today.

The full program consists of a story reading, a puppet song and a video of groundhog life provided by Valley Wildlife Care.

Stop by your local library to pick up an activity kit that includes more facts about groundhogs and the Groundhog Legend, games, craft projects and coloring pages.

Conclude your own celebration with a serving of vanilla ice cream. Wait to hear Bowman Bill's report and his weather prediction. Remember (according to legend) if he sees his shadow, he goes back into his burrow for six more weeks of Winter--and you can add chocolate topping to your ice cream.
