Event Details
The Northern Virginia Geocaching Organization, in partnership with Handley Regional Library, is excited to announce the return of the Geocaching International Film Festival (GIFF) as we celebrate 25 years of geocaching! This year's theme is "Thanks for the Community." We warmly invite you to join us at the beautiful, historic Handley Library, a wonderful setting to gather with fellow geocachers from the region and enjoy the event together.
Who?
While the films are created by and for geocachers to enjoy, this event is open to the general public. Whether you've found thousands of geocaches, or are just hearing about it for the first time, you are welcome to come by.
What?
This is not just a film showing, but it is an official geocaching event. In fact, it is a special type of event called a Community Celebration Event. After a brief introduction to the Northern Virginia Geocaching Organization, we will watch the film together. GIFF is a worldwide contest for the best short film about Geocaching. The film reel is about an hour long and will contain the films that were selected as finalists from all of the submissions Geocaching HQ received. Dialogue in the films may be in any language, but any dialogue not in English will have English subtitles. After the film we'll vote on our favorite. Don't forget to sign the log book! By attending this event, you will receive the official GIFF 2025 digital souvenir.
When?
November 15th, 2025
2:00pm - Meet other geocachers. Sign the log book.
2:25pm - Welcome and introduction. Watch the film (1 hour)
3:30pm - Vote for our favorite and geocache-themed door prize giveaway. Chat with other geocachers. If you're new to geocaching and would like help logging today's event, there should be plenty of helpers on hand.
