Presenter Shannon Combs-Bennett will discuss how genetic testing may aid in researching your family's history.  She will also explain how the science works and how to use the findings to understand the past.  She will also discuss aspects to genetic testing that need to be considered prior to testing.  

 

Shannon Combs-Bennett is an award-winning author who resides in Northern Virginia. From there, she writes and presents on various topics across the US and internationally, from genetic genealogy to methodology techniques. Shannon is a Qualified Genealogist (QG) through the Register of Qualified Genealogists.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in biology with an emphasis in genetics from Indiana University and her Master of Science in Genealogic, Heraldic, and Paleographic Studies from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Shannon is a doctoral student in History and Genealogical studies at the University of Strathclyde, studying correlations of genealogy and lineage societies in the United States.
