Program Description

Event Details

Join the Friends of HRLS for Annual Friends Night! This event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

The Friends will present the Volunteer of the Year award and the Barbara Dickinson Scholarship to a HRLS staff member. There will also be a presentation of the annual donation to the library.

The guest speaker for the event will be award-winning author Tj O'Connor. He is known for his mysteries and thrillers and works as an international security consultant specializing in anti-terrorism, investigations, and threat analysis—experiences that inspire his novels. His thriller titles include The Hemmingway Deception, The Consultant, and newly released The Whisper Legacy. Additionally, he has written a mystery trilogy called The Dead Detective Casefiles. Tj will discuss how Virginia's history has shaped his writing and will give us a preview of a book set to be released later in 2025, which takes place in our very own Handley Library!

Tj was raised in New York's Hudson Valley and now resides in Virginia with his wife, their Labrador retrievers, and Maine Coon cats. They have raised five children, who have given them a growing tribe of grandchildren.

Winchester Book Gallery will be on hand selling Tj's books throughout the event.
