Chess Tournament

Chess Tournament-Sponsored by Shenandoah Valley Chess Club and Stephens City Chess Club.

Time: 10:00 am - 2:30 pm, Registration & Pairings: 10:00 am Round 1 - 10:30 am, Round 2 - 12:00 pm, Round 3 - To begin as soon as possible.

Sections: This tournament is organized into Quads (Groups of 4) - up to 20 players.

Players will be organized to play with students or adults by skill level. Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, and Adult. 

Registration: Space is limited and pre-registration is encouraged. 

General Information: Chess sets and boards will be provided.

Intermediate and Advanced players must provide their own Chess Clocks. This is an unrated tournament. 

Competition Format: 3 Rounds / 30 minutes per player

A perfect understanding of the rules is not necessary. Grades 3-8 games will be untimed and will likely finish early.

For planning purposes: Depending on number of entries, it is not uncommon that a playoff and championship match. 

Tournament format subject to change based on number entries and time constraints.
