Join us after hours for a look into the archives!  Come join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Archives with a special presentation.  Each Archives After Hours event will feature a topic concerning items in the archives, how to use them, and how they may help you in your research.

This month's topic is Introduction to Sanborn Maps.  Sanborn maps were made during the 19th and 20th centuries as fire insurance maps for urban areas: maps that would allow insurance companies assess their liability.  Within these maps contains information on local structures now gone, what buildings were made of, the number of floors, their street number system that may have changed over time, and much more.  Our Winchester Sanborn maps are a wealth of information to our researchers.  Come learn how they can help.

Following our discussion of Sanborn maps, guests will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the archives space.

Space is limited for this event and registration is required.  Registration is limited to guests ages 12 and up.  See below to register.  For more information, contact the Archives at (540) 662-9041 Ext. 17.
