Winchester, VA (April 19, 2021) – Handley Regional Library System announces the following weekly updates and programs to the community:

Stewart Bell Jr. Archives to Showcase Apple Blossom Festival History

Handley Regional Library System and the Stewart Bell Jr. Archives will be sharing several historical memories from the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® on the library system’s Facebook at @handleyregional starting Monday, April 26-Friday, May 1. 

Photos and stories from the digital collections will focus on past queens, program covers, popular contests, parades, and more.  The community can enjoy these on social media or contact the Stewart Bell Jr. Archives for more memories and information at archives@handleyregional.org. 

Job Seeker and Career Resources to the Community

Handley Regional Library System announces several ways they are helping the community during the pandemic with job seeker and career resources through tools in their 24/7 Digital Library, books on career-related topics, and by being a supporter of the Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Virtual Job Fair on April 29th.   Digital Library tools include resume templates, interviewing help, job searching, career skills development and certification prepreation, online learning, and more.  See more at https://www.handleyregional.org/blog/job-seeker-and-career-resources-community

An Extraordinary Mary Poppins Experience with the Library + Activity Kit

The online experience includes celebrating kites, umbrellas, and the “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” Mary Poppins.  The virtual program will be available on Facebook and YouTube (@handleyregional) and will include puppets singing “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and a picture book reading of Mary Poppins on Saturday, April 24th at 11:00AM.  A kite song will be shared by Ms. Cheryl and a demonstration of assembling and decorating the DIY kite will be part of the virtual event.  Activity kits, including a DIY kite, are available for pick-up at Bowman Library now as supplies last.  Each kit includes puzzles, recipes at 17 Cherry Tree Lane and coloring sheets from films Mary Poppins and Mary Poppins Returns. 

Virtual Graphic Novel Club for Adults - April 28 at 7PM

Graphic novels aren't just for kids and teens and we've got a list of award-winners lined up that we'd love to share with you.  The book for April is Everything Is Beautiful and I'm Not Afraid by Yao Xiao.
