Thursday Five O'Clock Spot: Katy Eckstein

Have you heard about Bowman Library's new Thursday Five O'Clock Spot? Every Thursday at Five O'Clock, there are fun things happening for school age children at Bowman Library. These hands-on programs promote creativity and problem solving and collaboration skills, and everyone who comes leaves with a smile!

 

1st Thursday: Imagination Station

This STEAM based program has activities for children of all ages, so bring the whole family to enjoy this program together. Each month has a different theme along with 5 stations designed to best suit various ages, abilities, and interests.

2nd Thursday: Try-It-Yourself

For the month of June, Try-It-Yourself will take the 2nd Thursday spot due to Nature Surprises taking a break this month.

Dive into the world of circuits and electronics with this STEAM based program. Explore how to use electrical connections, gear movement, and radio reception to perform new actions each month. This program is for children ages 6-11.

2nd Thursday: Nature Surprises

Nature Surprises will resume it's place in the 2nd Thursday spot in July!

The Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association presents a delightful program that captures the beauty of nature in surprising ways. Each month has a new theme that teaches the children about the wonders of nature and how to create a craft using nature elements. This program is for children ages 6-11.

3rd Thursday: Soap Carving with John Kennedy

Since Nature Surprises is taking a break in June, we added a special program, Soap Carving with John Kennedy. 

Carve a unique design using kid-safe carving tools and soap under the guidance of artist John Kennedy. This program is for children ages 6-11.

4th Thursday: Junior Graphic Novel Club

Come sharpen your drawing and writing skills with a different inspiring theme each month. Use the resources and materials to make your own graphic novel or to just draw and have fun. Light boxes and tracing paper also available.  This program is for children ages 6 and up.
