Teen Book Spotlight--New Books Pt. 8!!!

Our teen book spotlight this week is focused on books that have recently been added to our collection meaning they are new!!!!  New books are the best; they have a new book smell and there is just something about being one of the first people to read it.  We are featuring some amazing fiction and nonfiction this time including titles from a few of our favorite and most popular authors as well as some of my personal favorites from the past few months!  These books and more can be found by searching the catalog using the search tag #2022yanewbooks as well as on Libby and Hoopla.  Check back next week for a new teen book spotlight and if you have any book suggestions, please let us know!!

Separate No More by Lawrence Goldstone--Chronicles the events and trials that led to the landmark Supreme Court ruling, Brown vs. Board of Education. Highlights the key players involved in the struggle and their methodical strategies to overcome injustice.

Hold Back the Tide by Melinda Salisbury--When Alva was nine, her father killed her mother, but lack of evidence prevented him from being convicted. Alva has kept a low profile around her father until she can run away, helping him with his duties monitoring the water levels of Loch Lake. When water levels drop too low, deadly creatures emerge from the caves, and her father does nothing to stop them, leaving Alva to warn the villagers and find a way to destroy them.

All These Bodies by Kendare Blake--When a series of brutal murders involving bodies drained of all blood occur throughout the Midwest, the authorities are mystified. But when the Carlson family is murdered in their Minnesota farmhouse, the police find a lead in the form of Marie Catherine Hale who is found at the scene covered in blood. Michael Jenson, son of the local sheriff, dreams of becoming a journalist and sees the story as his big break. Marie decides Michael is the only one she will tell her story to, and he jumps at the chance. But as Marie reveals her tale, Michael begins to wonder if he can trust anything she says.

Walls by L.M. Elliott--In 1960, army brat Drew moves with his family to a post in West Berlin, where he learns his cousin Matthias and relatives are living on the east side of the city. Fifteen-year-old Drew has strong opinions about America's positions and learns they are the opposite opinions of his cousin when they begin spending time together. Over time though, the two forge common ground in music, even though Matthias could be taken away if he was ever caught with it. As tensions increase in the city, officials on both sides grow suspicious of where the boys' loyalties lie, which extends to their families. The unexpected raising of the wall overnight forces the boys to make tough choices between their families and their futures.

None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney--Eighteen-year-olds Emma Lewis and Travis Bell, recruited by the FBI to interview juvenile serial killers, must turn to a notorious teenage sociopath to help track down a new murderer.

Take Me With You When You Go by David Levithan and Jennifer Niven--When eighteen-year-old Bea runs away from home with no explanation, her brother Ezra is shocked and hurt. He knows life with their neglectful mother and abusive stepfather isn't easy, but he hates being left behind. He finds an email address Bea leaves for him and the siblings begin communicating. Bea tells Ezra that she received a message that prompted her to finally leave her life behind. Meanwhile, things get much worse for Ezra and he flees to the home of his Black boyfriend.
