Teen Book Spotlight--Elyse's Favorites Pt. 2!!!

Our teen book spotlight this week is on books that are some of my all time favorites!!! These are the books that kept me reading till 3:00 in the morning (we have all been there before), left me speechless and filled with emotions (including some crying on the couch), wanting to talk about it with someone instantly, and then telling everyone else they have to read it!  Some of these books are standalone titles while a few start a series; this was such a hard list to make.  These books and more can be found by searching the catalog using the search tag #elyse’sfavorites as well as on Libby and Hoopla.  Check back next week for a new teen book spotlight and if you have any book suggestions, please let us know!!

Long Way Down: The Graphic Novel by Jason Reynolds--After his brother Shawn's fatal shooting, Will sets out to avenge Shawn, but seven ghosts who knew Shawn board the elevator and reveal truths Will needs to know.

From that moment on, through 1943, her life revolves around books stolen, books given, and books written. Death is the narrator and tells the story of this young orphan girl as "an attempt--flying jump of an attempt--to prove to me that you, and your human existence, are worth it."

Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce--Eleven-year-old Alanna, who aspires to be a knight even though she is a girl, disguises herself as a boy to become a royal page, learning many hard lessons along her path to high adventure.

Caught between her dream of leaving Conti Street for an elite college and the clandestine underworld of New Orleans, Josie is tangled in a police investigation of a mysterious death in the French Quarter. With so many secrets and lies complicating her life, can she trust her best friend, Patrick? Can she abandon her mother?

The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule--Presents the account of Ann Rule of her friendship with and thoughts about the character of her one-time co-worker Ted Bundy, discussing her point of view on his personality and what she knew about him from the time they spent working together at a crisis and depression call center.
