Teen Book Spotlight--Bookworms & Libraries!!!

Our teen book spotlight this week is on books that feature some of our favorite things--books, bookworms, and libraries!!!  The first week of April is National Library Week and what better way to celebrate than to read a book which highlights this amazing place.  We have a variety of books that feature a traditional library similar to what you know and then some that are incredibly unique and you will find yourself wishing you could visit as well as some that are all about book lovers--just like you!  Some of the titles are fantasy, the first in a series, or down right so realistic that you will be feeling all of the emotions and then some. These books and more can be found by searching the catalog using the search tag #yabookworms as well as on Libby and Hoopla.  Check back next week for a new teen book spotlight and if you have any book suggestions, please let us know!!

The Grimm Legacy by Polly Shulman--After Elizabeth lands a job as a page at the New York Circulating Material Repository, a library that loans historically valuable (and magical) objects instead of books, she is soon granted access to the Grimm Collection. Housed in a secret room underground, the collection contains items from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales - including Snow White's stepmother's mirror and seven-league boots. When items from this room begin to disappear and are later returned with their magical powers removed, Elizabeth, along with her boyfriend Marc and fellow pages Anjali and Aaron, set out to reveal the real thief.

The Archived by Victoria Schwab--Within the Archive, Librarians can read the Histories contained inside the bodies of the dead. As a Keeper, it is Mackenzie Bishop's job to keep violent Histories from awakening and escaping the archive. When someone begins deliberately changing Histories, however, Mackenzie must find out who is behind the plot before their actions destroy the Archive.

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green--Having been diagnosed as a terminal cancer patient, 16-year-old Hazel Lancaster is living on borrowed time. While attending a group therapy session for teens living with cancer, Hazel spies Augustus “Gus” Waters looking at her from across the room; when he asks her over, the two form an immediate connection that gives new meaning to their ever-shortening lives. From an overseas trip to Amsterdam to learning about the other's favorite type of novel, Hazel and Gus embark on a journey of self-discovery that allows them to come to terms with the nature of their illness and the inevitability of death – together.

Evil Librarian by Michelle Knudsen--When Cyn discovers that the hot new librarian her best friend Annie has a crush on is actually a demon named Gabriel, she teams up with her crush to save her best friend from an infernal fate.

Words In Deep Blue by Cath Crowley--Teenagers Rachel and Henry find their way back to each other while working in an old bookstore full of secrets and crushes, love letters and memories, grief and hope.

The Reader by Traci Chee--Sefia is barely surviving with her aunt Nin after the brutal death of her father. When Nin is kidnapped, Sefia's only clue is a book that belonged to her father. But in a world where reading is unheard of, Sefia must teach herself to unlock the clues that lead to the truth.
