Teen Book Spotlight--2014 Titles!!!

Posted on:

Our teen book spotlight this week is on books that were published in 2014 and are celebrating their 10th birthday!  I do not know what was in the water, air, or universe that year but there were so many amazing titles and authors to come out of that year of publishing that books we read today are still inspired by those groundbreaking works.  Many have been adapted into movies  or shows we were clamoring to see in the theaters since 2014 and some titles we are still talking about and recommending to others.  There is a mixture of stand alone titles as well as firsts in a series to fantasy, realistic, and even some romance.  These books and more can be #ya10years as well as on Libby and Hoopla.  Check back next week for a new teen book spotlight and if you have any book suggestions, please let us know!!

Panic by Lauren Oliver--In the poor town of Carp, New York, a group of graduating seniors enters a high-stakes game called "Panic" that involves a series of secretive, possibly deadly challenges throughout the summer, with the winner receiving more than $50,000--enough money to start a new life.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han--Getting over a crush isn't easy, but 16-year-old Lara Jean Covey has come up with a solution—she writes the objects of her affection love letters, which she stockpiles in a hatbox beneath her bed in order to move on with her life. Imagine Lara Jean's shock when she is approached by two of her former crushes who tell her they have received her letters! It turns out someone has mysteriously mailed these secret missives. Lara Jean has to get to the bottom of it while performing some major damage control—especially since one of the crushes is her older sister's recent ex-boyfriend.

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins--Southern belle Harper Price has enough on her hands as the president of student government, head of numerous committees and organizations, and soon-to-be Homecoming Queen—that is, until she is suddenly transformed into a Paladin, a guardian with superpowers, and given a very difficult charge. Harper is assigned the responsibility of protecting David Stark, the snarky, nerdy school reporter who dislikes Harper. But as Harper fights to shield David from paranormal danger, they start to fall for one another—until Harper finds out that David's own fate could be a whole lot more dangerous—and destructive—than hers.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart--Cadence Sinclaire Eastman, along with her cousins Mirren and Johnny, and her aunt's longtime boyfriend's nephew Gat Patil, are the Liars. They are the third generation growing up in the privileged family of Harris Sinclaire, the grandfather from whom all the wealth comes, including Beechwood island off the coast of Cape Cod. It is Cadence's 17th summer on the isle, and she has just returned after two years of recovering from an accident which left her with chronic migraines and memory loss. Which is just as well, because her family refuses to talk about her accident, and the secret that Cadence slowly remembers throughout the course of “summer 17” on Beechwood is horrific.

Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick--While hiking the Teton Range during a blizzard, backpacker Britt Pheiffer is kidnapped by two fugitives who demand that she lead them down the mountain to safety. Britt becomes unsure who to trust as she starts to bond with one of her kidnappers, Mason, and uncovers evidence of a series of murders.

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch--Meira, a warrior in training and one of eight free citizens of the Kingdom of Winter following the kingdom's defeat sixteen years ago, sets out on a dangerous journey to uncover a magic talisman that can restore the kingdom's power.
