Storytime Break at the Handley Branch

A few times a year the children’s department goes on a storytime break. But what does that mean for you? It means every April, August, and December we pause our daily storytimes to prepare for the upcoming season. Fear not, there are still plenty of things to do at the library during a storytime break! 

Each week, we will have a different themed playtime experience set up for you and your littles to explore during the usual storytime timeframe! Everything from gross motor play to music and art exploration. See the list of themes by week below:

  2. 12/1 - 12/4 Art Exploration
  3. 12/8 - 12/11 Gross Motor Play
  4. 12/15 - 12/18 Building Exploration and Sensory Bins
  5. 12/22 - 12/25 Sensory Bin Exploration
  6. 12/29 - 1/1 Playtime Toy Bins

 

Or come dance with us at the library since Dance Parties will still happen every Friday like usual during the break!

Maybe you’ve signed your little(s) up for our new Read and Seed Activity Program? December is a great time to start earning those stickers by checking out materials, getting library cards, and exploring our awesome collection of databases. Find resources like Gale in Context, Just For Kids from InfoBase, or Niche Academy to conduct research projects, watch educational videos, and learn more about how to use the resources the library provides.

 

Saturday programming will continue like normal during the break. Be sure to stop by to build with us at Lego Club, game with Ms. Sophie at Games Galore, or do a cool engineering project with Mrs. Sarah at Story Builders. Maybe you’d like to practice your reading skills? Come read a story to a fluffy bunny or snuggly dog at Paws for Reading! And if you’re more a “day at the movies” kind of group, come watch Wish with us at Family Film, and eat snacks provided by the library!

 

There is so much fun to be had at the library during this storytime break. You can even get those last minute gifts at the Library Shop and enjoy a 20% discount every Saturday until Christmas. We can’t wait to see you soon and wish you all a happy holiday season!
