Hello!
My name is Shelby and I recently started working at the Handley Library. So far, my time here has been fantastic! I have enjoyed getting to know fellow staff members and the many wonderful patrons that use our library. As a kid, going to the library with my family was one of my favorite activities, so being able to work here has been a joy.
One thing that surprised me from working here is the abundance of digital resources available to the community at no charge. Of those resources, I have personally enjoyed using Universal Class. This is a resource available to patrons for free through their library account. Universal Class offers over 500 different classes to choose from, ranging in topics from business and accounting to alternative medicine and crafts. The classes include interactive forums, lectures, readings, and exams.
In completing a class, you also have the opportunity to earn CEUs (continuing education units), which can be used to move forward with your career goals. This is a helpful tool for anyone looking to boost their resume and credentials.
With so many classes, there is something for everyone. Some fun mentions are: Dream Interpretation 101, Creative Writing, Stress Management, and Social Media Marketing.
