Playaway Launchpads have launched at Handley Regional Library System!
Launchpad tablets are now available for checkout at all 3 library locations. Designed for kids of all ages, the tablets are pre-loaded with high-quality, ad-free apps that are both fun and educational, promoting literacy through digital content. The devices are powered by an Android operating system and feature a 7” high-definition touch screen, universal audio jack, and a durable, protective bumper. The content collection spans subject areas from math and science to critical thinking and creativity, and features themed learning packs including animals, princesses, fantasy, nature, and more. Tablets can be checkout out for 7 days at a time and holds are not available.

“These tablets are really cool and we’re excited to launch these across the entire system,” says John Huddy, Director of Handley Regional Library System. “A custom designed user interface gives kids the opportunity to make every Launchpad experience their own by creating an avatar. An informational console dashboard is available giving parents and educators feedback about time spent on the tablet for screen time tracking. The best thing is that no internet connection is required, so you can take these wherever you go. Plus, while they are originally designed for kids of any age, we wanted to make sure the adults are included in the fun so we have a few tablets with apps for them too.”
