I Love You Storytime

I Love You BooklistSkidamarink a dink a dink, Skidamarink a doo. I love you!

Although every day of the year is a great day to remind your child how much you love them, the approach of Valentine's Day gives us a wonderful opportunity to explore all the many ways we love one another. No commercialization, no gimmicks, just some great stories to share. The library has a bunch of love-filled books you can check out for free and read together!

Head over to our storytimes the week of February 10th for some wonderful stories, songs, and more! Search the catalog for the tag: #iloveyou for some wonderful book suggestions to take home.

Enjoy some time together with some musical play, too! Here are some songs to get you started.

Skidamarink
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.

I love you in the morning
And in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening
And underneath the moon;
Oh, Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you!

Little Heart
I have a little heart, (place hand over heart)
And it goes thump, thump, thump
(pat chest three times)
It keeps right on beating,
When I jump, jump, jump
(jump three times)
I get a special feeling, when I look at you.

I Love You, You Love Me
(to the tune of “This Old Man”)
I love you, You love me,
We're a happy family!
With a great big hug,
And a kiss from me to you,
Won't you say you love me too?
Snuggle up,
Hold me tight
Can we share A book tonight?
With a great big hug,
And another kiss or two,
I love reading books with you!

Make New Friends
Make new friends, but keep the old.
One is silver and the other is gold.
A circle is round. It has no end.
That’s how long I want to be your friend.

Be My Valentine
Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb
You’re a special friend of mine,
Friend of mine, friend of mine.
You’re a special friend of mine.
Be my Valentine!

Five Little Valentines
Five little hearts all in a row
The first one said, “I love you so”
The second one said, “Will you be my valentine?” The third one said, “I will, if you’ll be mine.”
The fourth one said, “I’ll always be your friend.” The fifth one said, “We'll all be friends until the end.”
