Hearts and Kisses Storytime

Are you ready to read this week? We have so many things to celebrate this week, and you’re going to love it! It’s a week for hearts and kisses!

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, or simply looking to share your heart with those you love, you can find a book to share by clicking on the search bar above and typing in the tag: #iloveyou. The tag will show you some warm and cozy books like these, plus many more.

Love from the Crayons by Drew Daywalt: This charming title features everyone’s favorite coloring crew. Love is yellow and orange. Because love is sunny and warm. Love is purple. Because it’s okay to love outside the lines.

The I Love You Book by Todd Parr celebrates the love one person has for another, whether they are dancing or strolling, on snowy days and sunny ones, no matter what.

Love You Always by Frances Stickley: Everything is changing around little Hedgie. Would his mommy love him more if he changed too? A heartfelt story about the never-ending love between parent and child.

Sharon, Lois & Bram's Skinnamarink with Randi Hampson presents an illustrated version of the popular folk song about how everyone loves each other in all different circumstances.

Love from the Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle: The very hungry caterpillar displays its love for the reader as the cherry on a cake, the apple of an eye, and the bee's knees.

Lots of Love Little One by Sandra Magsamen: Illustrations and rhyming text express love for a new baby, which is brighter than stars and fireflies and greater than a dog loves a bone.

Love Is by Diane Adams: A girl finds a baby duckling, and discovers that love is taking care of something that needs you, and also knowing when to let it go.

I Love You All Year Through by Stephanie Stansbie: Animal parents tell their babies how they love them all year through, including in the frosty winter, the blossoming spring, and the hazy summer.

I Am Love by Susan Verde explores many aspects of love that can help one weather any storm, including that love is comfort, effort, connection, and taking care of oneself.

Here are some charming songs you can use to serenade the one you love. Download the lyrics and coloring page here.

Little Heart
I have a little heart (place hand over heart)
And it goes thump, thump, thump (pat chest three times)
It keeps right on beating
When I jump, jump, jump (jump three times)
I get a special feeling
When I look at you (point to child)
It make me want to give you
A kiss or two (blow kisses)

Skidamarink

Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.

I love you in the morning
And in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening
And underneath the moon;
Oh, Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you!

If You Love Me and You Know It
Sung to: "If your happy and you know it"

If you love me and you know it, Clap your hands.
If you love me and you know it, Clap your hands.
If you love me and you know it,
Then your face will surely show it.
If you love me and you know it, Clap your hands.

Other Verses:
Say "I Love you"
Blow me a kiss
Give me a hug

I'm a Little Valentine
Sung to: "I'm a little teapot"

I'm a little Valentine,
Red and white.
with ribbons and lace,
I'm a beautiful sight.
I can say I love you
On Valentines Day
Just put me in a envelope,
and give me away.

Enjoy all of our great activities online this week and we’ll see you next week for a new theme!
