Harvest Time Storytime!

Harvest Time Book ListApples, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, corn and more! It's harvest time and the farmer's markets are bustling with business. This week at Handley Regional Library storytimes we'll celebrate the harvest with books, music, and fun! 

Your search tag this week is #timetoharvest and by typing that into the catalog search bar at handleyregional.org, you'll find lots of wonderful books to check out to enjoy the harvest. 

If you'd like more harvest activities to do at home, take some of your carrot tops or damaged produce and create a unique place mat or artwork with paper and a little paint. Cut the apple, potato, or carrot top in half, and then add paint to create a stamper! Paint a corn cob and roll it on the paper.

You can learn some great rhymes and songs to sing while you bake and cook for your fall harvest festivities too! Try some of these favorites:

Five Little Apples
Five little apples hanging in a tree,
(Hold up five fingers)
Teasing Mr. Slinky Worm--“You can’t eat me!”
(Wiggle fingers to rhythm)
Along comes Mr. Slinky Worm as quiet as can be. . .
(Other finger makes a slinky worm and climbs)
And . . . CRUNCH!-ed that apple right out of the tree!
