Give Thanks Storytime

Give Thanks BooklistAt Handley Regional Library System, we want to say “Thank you!” to all of our wonderful patrons of all sizes. You give us reason to give thanks every day.  In that spirit of gratitude, we will share some of our favorite books about gratitude and thankfulness this week.

Don't forget, we will be closed on November 28 and 29 in observance of Thanksgiving, so head over and stock up on your books, movies, and media before 5pm on Wednesday!

While you build your feast, here are some extra ways to enrich your holiday celebration!

I Am Thankful Jar
With your child, decorate a jar and give it a name such as the “I Am Thankful Jar.” Every day jot down or draw a picture of something for which you are thankful. Some ideas might include surprises, someone who made you smile, a tasty treat you enjoyed, or something that makes you laugh. Each week/month/etc. read your thankful notes together!

If You’re Thankful and You Know It
(Tune: If you’re Happy and You Know It)
If you’re thankful and you know it,
clap your hands.
If you’re thankful and you know it,
clap your hands.
If you’re thankful and you know it,
then your face will surely show it.
If you’re thankful and you know it,
clap your hands.

Continue verse with
…stomp your feet.
…shout “I am!”
……..Do all three!
