Come Out of Hibernation Day on February 1

Don't Miss The 2nd Annual Come Out of Hibernation Day, A Day Packed Full of Ways to Experience Everything the Library Has to Offer

This special day is packed full of 8 different programs and activities for kids, teens, and adults, at all 3 libraries (Bowman Library, Handley Library, and Clarke County Library). The day officially kicks off with chess at Bowman Library and quickly moves into the larger crowd gatherings at 11AM featuring the Groundhog Day Celebration, the winter reading program finale for kids and teens, and the Indoor Plant Clinic  – both at Bowman Library. In addition, patrons can enter a drawing at each location and have an opportunity to win a book bag stuffed with promotional items, book bucks, and more.

All programs are free and open to the public.  Last year’s event drew over 1,800 visits and almost 700 program attendees all day long.

“Come Out of Hibernation Day is a great way for the public to engage with everything that Handley Regional Library System has to offer, whether you’ve been here before or want to visit for the first time” says John Huddy, Director of Handley Regional Library System.  “We have something available for every age group at all 3 of our libraries.  In addition to books, you can attend a program, checkout a movie from nearly any genre, take home a video game, or even borrow one of our Wi-Fi mobile hotspots for free internet at home. If you don’t have a library card, this is the day to get one.”

February also starts the “Push Your Shelf Winter Challenge” where adults have a chance to try new library services, check out library items outside your comfort zone, and participate in different library activities for prizes all month long.
