Virtual Book Clubs - Graphic Novels for Adults and Brown Bag with Books –Bring Readers Together and Introduce New Stories During the Pandemic

Handley Regional Library System announces two book clubs for adults – both designed to connect readers online, create community, and introduce readers to new stories and elements.    The first book club is called Brown Bag with Books and meets the first Wednesday of the month during lunchtime on Zoom.  This club features a variety of authors with a unique story.  The second book club, knows as Graphic Novels for Adults, combines the influence of comic books with engaging artwork with more lengthy, complex stories.  Graphic Novels for Adults meets the last Wednesday of each month from 7PM-8PM.  Both book clubs are free and open to the public.

“Keeping connected with each other during this time is important and the library system is a great resource to help make that happen through reading,” says John Huddy, Director Handley Regional Library System.  “Through our book clubs, we are creating an opportunity for readers to engage online together through a shared interest of reading.  You’ll have guided discussion, get a chance to talk to other lovers of literacy, and experience a new author or genre.  We also know we’re all a little more stressed out than normal during the pandemic – and reading reduces stress – so the library system is helping to create additional pathways to combine community and reading.”
