If you and your family are wanting to read more diverse books with a central theme around Social Justice Education, then look no further than your local public library! We've compiled a list of books for Elementary, Middle School, and High School readers. You can find these books in our library catalog here and/or in our digital library in Hoopla here. All you need is a library card!

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage month!!  The Handley Regional Library Youth Services Department is celebrating this month by sharing a list of titles that are either written by an individual or featuring a character of Asian Pacific American Heritage.  More titles and authors can be found by searching the library catalog using the search term #youthasianpacific. 

Children’s Book Week is the annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading.

Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Every year, events are held nationwide at schools, libraries, bookstores, homes—wherever young readers and books connect! Children’s Book Week is not only a celebration of books, but of connection.

As we celebrate the upcoming Star Wars holiday of May the Fourth, we are sharing some books that take place in outer space and explore how teens live there for young adult readers!  Some of these books take place in the galaxy we know while others are in a galaxy far, far away.  The titles featured below can be found on Hoopla or Libby either as an audiobook, eBook, or both.  To find more titles, please search the Handley Regional Library System catalog using the search term #yaspacelife--many of these titles can be found on Libby and

As we continue to celebrate April being National Poetry Month, we are featuring some more novels in verse but now for young adult readers!  Novels in verse are stories that are uniquely told through a series of poems instead of paragraphs.
