Natsu Con Japanese Anime Conference

Natsu Con is at Bowman Library on July 29th from 1PM-7PM. The teen event is sponsored by the Teen Advisory Board at Bowman Library and is free and open to the public. Focused on anime and comic characters, attendees will hear from special speakers who will focus on developing anime characters, Nick Coleman with a talk about how super heroes have issues too, an artist alley, character panels, dance presentations, cosplay contents, Japanese snacks, and more. The day ends with a drawing workshop by cartoonist Paul Merklein of Wisconsin.

Bus Trip to 2019 National Book Festival with the Friends

The Friends of the Handley Regional Library System’s annual bus trip to the 2019 National Book Festival is on August 31st. The cost is $25 per seat and the conference is free and open to the public at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The festival is packed with 140 authors and other programs centered on literacy from every genre. This year’s lineup includes U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, historians David McCullough and Michael Beschloss, celebrity D.C.

Winchester Little Theatre Brings Robin Hood Misdirected to Handley Library

Don't miss Robin Hood Misdirected on July 10th at 3PM at Handley Library. The adaption is from Jack Neary and is given a fresh, funny and exciting spin when the Misdirected Theatre Company fails to show up for a sold-out performance! Attendees will experience many laughs, lots of adventure, and swashbuckling action with the Winchester Little Theatre performance.  The program is free and open to the public.

One Book One Community announces the 2019 One Book as My Beloved World by Justice Sonia Sotomayor. 

The author was born on June 25, 1954, in the Bronx borough of New York City. She became the first Latina Supreme Court Justice on May 26, 2009.  Her memoir met the criteria for selection by the committee – has widespread appeal, is available in paperback and Spanish, and is currently in print.

Video Games Now Available at Handley Library

Our video game collections has expanded to Handley Library!

Previously games were only physically available at Bowman Library, but the collection has expanded due to community interest. Popular Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Wii video games are included. You can also select games online to pick up from the library location of you choice in Berryville, Winchester, and Stephens City.
