Bus Trip to 2019 National Book Festival with the Friends

The Friends of the Handley Regional Library System’s annual bus trip to the 2019 National Book Festival is on August 31st. The cost is $25 per seat and the conference is free and open to the public at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The festival is packed with 140 authors and other programs centered on literacy from every genre. This year’s lineup includes U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, historians David McCullough and Michael Beschloss, celebrity D.C. chef and humanitarian José Andrés, graphic novel superstar Raina Telgemeier, and Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction recipient Richard Ford.

More authors and sessions are available at www.loc.gov/bookfest. The trip is open to members of the Friends and the general public. To confirm a seat reservation, call 540.662.9041, Ext 31 or email friends@handleyregional.org. The bus leaves Winchester at 7:30AM and returns 7:30PM.

“This is going to be a fantastic conference, so you will want to reserve your seat early,” says Barbara Dickinson, Executive Director of the Friends of the Handley Regional Library System. “With such high profile authors, illustrators, and poets headlining the event, we will certainly fill up quickly. All proceeds go towards funding future programs and services at Handley Regional Library System, so it’s a great way to experience an amazing trip while supporting your local library.”
