How many of you have been patrons of the Handley Library long enough to remember a time before the Bowman Library branch existed? What are your memories of its building and its opening?
20 years ago, on November 4, 2000, the Winchester Hiram Lodge conducted a ceremony setting the cornerstone for the Bowman Library. The stone was taken from the Handley Library building during its 1999-2001 renovations, as a way of symbolizing the unity of the regional system.
If you have been to the Bowman Library in recent weeks you probably noticed a lot of earth moving equipment in the parking lot. Frederick County Parks and Recreation has been very busy constructing the new walking trail around Lakeside Lake and we are excited about it!
Welcome Middle and High School writers. Let's Camp-Out at the Library!
We celebrate July as Writing Month at Bowman Library by setting up camp, getting out the composition supplies and writing. It is a time to relax and write our best stuff yet. Short stories, novels, poems, comic strips are all welcome as we sit around camp and inspire one another.
