Social distancing guidelines mean that our Conversation Partners program has had to be suspended for the time being. We're as disappointed by this as you are, but that doesn't mean you have to stop learning! As many of you already know, apps like Mango and Rocket Languages can help you practice virtually from home and some of our language learning books and audiobooks are available through Libby and the Blue Ridge Download Consortium.
We are helping patrons learn a new language with a special workshop on May 23rd at 6PM at Bowman Library. The program, Mango Languages Workshop, will show attendees how to use the free Mango Languages app available in the 24/7 digital library on the library system’s website. The app has over 70 different language courses – from Arabic to Yiddish - where you can learn online through interactive tutorials focused on culture, introductions, lifestyle, and more.
Learning a language can open many doors, from new friendships to new careers. If you’re looking to learn a new language or practice language skills, the library has your back. From physical materials for checkout to online databases and learning apps, we have a wide selection to meet your individual goals and preferences. Language learning books and software can be expensive but we here at the library don’t think money should stand in your way. We’ve got plenty of free options for you to kick off a bilingual tomorrow.
